Workers at the Port of Liverpool will enter into a two-week strike from 6:00 am on 19 September through 6:00 am on 3 October. The Liverpool Port is the fifth largest in the UK.
In addition, industrial action will again occur at the Port of Felixstowe beginning at 7:00 am on 27 September through 7:00 am on 5 October. The Felixstowe Port is the largest in the UK. This new action will occur on the heels of the recent eight-day strike at Felixstowe when 1,900 members of Unite, including crane drivers, machine operators, and stevedores stopped work between 21-28 August.
Consequently, with two strikes overlapping, we advise customers with shipments moving through these UK ports to prepare for significant delays and additional port storage, demurrage, and various other charges that may be assessed. Shipping lines announced they are already working on contingency plans to utilize alternative ports.
Your Arpin service team will continue to set realistic expectations with our customers and contact those impacted by the delays to set up individualized contingency plans. Please do not hesitate to contact the UK service team for advice and guidance on alternative ports to route into or with questions regarding additional charges that may be incurred.
