However, be prepared to pay a premium (sometimes higher than in the U.S.) for imported or solid-wood items, as well as for the limited availability of specific styles or ergonomic furniture and mattresses.

Much of the advice online and in Facebook groups pushes a minimalist narrative: sell everything, arrive with a suitcase, and furnish locally. While that approach works for some, it overlooks lifestyle differences and the sentimental value of personal belongings. And it comes with hidden costs:
