Global Mobility News Report – Severe Port Congestion Expected to Impact Shipments Destined to the UK Into Early 2021

November 12, 2020

Ports throughout the UK are currently experiencing severe congestion affecting the timely importation of household goods and personal effects’ shipments. This is impacting every aspect of the transportation supply chain from steam ship lines being unable to unload, to timely customs clearance, to delays in final delivery, etc.

Consequently, we are advising customers with shipments moving through UK ports to prepare for major delays as well as additional port storage, demurrage, import congestion surcharges, and various other charges which may be assessed.

Your global Arpin service team is working closely its UK-based colleagues to monitor the situation and will be contacting all customers impacted by the port congestion to set up individualized contingency plans. In the meantime, please do hesitate to contact an Arpin representative for advice and guidance on alternative ports to route into or with questions regarding additional charges that may be incurred due to the current situation.
