Severe Port Congestion Expected to Impact Shipments Moving Through US California Ports

February 15, 2021

Extreme congestion at the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach is affecting the timely importation of household goods and personal effects’ shipments. Container ships are currently waiting an average of eight days at anchor due to extremely high inbound volume coupled with COVID infections among dockworkers.

Consequently, we are advising customers with shipments moving through these California ports to prepare for major delays as well as additional port storage, demurrage, import congestion surcharges, and various other charges that may be assessed.

Your Arpin service team will be contacting all customers impacted by the delays to set up individualized contingency plans. We will continue to do everything possible to minimize service interruptions and manage the relocating families’ expectations to the best of our ability.
