Service Interruption Alert – National Holiday Observance Extended in China Amid Growing Concerns Over the Spread of the Coronavirus

January 27, 2020

We would like to inform you that the Chinese government is taking extraordinary steps to help protect and contain the spread of the Coronavirus outbreak and has extended the national holiday through to February 9 (inclusive). The action was taken in an effort to avoid/delay one of the largest migrations in the world from happening, as families and employees would be making the trip on trains, buses, and planes from their hometowns back to capital cities potentially exacerbating this very serious public health situation.

As a consequence, we are advising customers with import or export shipments in China to prepare for major delays as well as additional port storage, demurrage, and various other charges which may be assessed.

Following the national holiday break, customers can expect long backlogs for customs clearance as the country begins to return to normal operations.

Your Arpin Service team is aware of all shipments that may be impacted and will make arrangements to ensure appropriate parties are kept informed of any potential service disruption.
