Service Interruption Alert: A Strike by CGT Union Crews at Ports Throughout France Disrupting Operations

January 21, 2020

We would like to inform you of a three-day strike by CGT union crews which are disrupting operations to varying degrees at seven ports in France – Calais, Dunkirk, Le Havre, Rouen, Nantes-Saint-Nazaire, La Rochelle, and Marseille.

Ferry ports Le Havre and Marseille are totally blocked; commercial docks are blocked at Rouen and Nantes; and dock working are striking at La Rochelle.

Today, the union called for a 72-hour walkout with pickets starting on Friday. The ongoing mass-transportation strikes are due to planned pension reforms.

As a result, we are advising customers with import or export shipments to prepare for some delays as well as additional port storage, demurrage, and various other charges which may be assessed.

Your Arpin Service team is aware of all shipments that may be impacted and will make arrangements to ensure appropriate parties are kept informed of any potential service disruption.
