Service Interruption Alert: Hurricane Michael Results in Port Closures in the United States

October 09, 2018

Hurricane Michael is expected to make landfall near Panama City, Florida, as a Category 3 Hurricane Wednesday afternoon. States of emergency have been declared in Florida, Alabama, and Georgia.

Consequently, the U.S. Coast Guard has mandated that no vessels may enter, transit, or remain within the safety zone without the permission of the captain of the port. In addition, no transfer of cargo can take place when wind speeds reach 40 mph. The ports of Gulfport, Mobile, Pascagoula, Panama City, and Pensacola are affected. Containerships scheduled to arrive at those ports in the coming days have changed their routing and port schedules due to the storm. It is not known yet when operations will be able to return to normal.

Your Arpin Service team is aware of all shipments that may be impacted and will make arrangements to ensure appropriate parties are kept informed of any potential service disruption.
