Costa Rica Customs Changes

August 06, 2018

Effective immediately, we’ve been informed that the Dirección General de Aduanas (DGA) is carrying out an update of its procedures for the importation of household goods and articles of personal effects. Although an official resolution has not been issued by the government, our supplier partners in the country have informed us that the customs changes are already being applied.

The DGA now requires the separation of household items and articles of personal effects requiring the presentation of two (2) procedures DUA (one for household goods and one for the personal effects) in order to release the shipment. Consequently, for shipments already in transit, this new disposition could result in delays and extra charges in order to comply with the new customs procedures now in force.

Your Arpin Service team is aware of all shipments that may be impacted and will do everything possible to minimize delays and manage the expectations of the relocating families to the best of our ability.
