Arpin Group Earns Healthy Workplace Award

June 10, 2015

“The goal of the Arpin wellness program is to educate employees and motivate them to take the steps necessary to prevent long-term health consequences and improve quality of life,” said Christina Sarza, director of human resources at Arpin Group. “Supporting our employees and their families by keeping them healthy and strong is one our highest priorities.”

Arpin Group was one of more than 75 Rhode Island businesses to which BCBSRI and the GPCC distributed Worksite Health Awards at a breakfast attended by hundreds of state business leaders. The event recognized local businesses and employees who have demonstrated commitment to fixing the healthcare system together through greater health and wellness measures, as companies and as individuals.

Arpin employees have been getting healthier every year since the company began implementing a series of wellness initiatives. Arpin conducts annual screenings and wellness clinics to assess biometrics such as blood pressure and glucose levels. All of the initiatives are designed to identify early onset of health issues and stress factors so that employees can seek care and advice before they develop serious health problems.

One of the Arpin wellness initiatives is a program developed to incentivize employees to obtain a health assessment, biometric screening and annual physical. These incentives include a company contribution to their health savings account (HSA). The company gives a discount on the premium if an employee completes additional health initiatives.

“We are proud to recognize Arpin Group for committing to the health of their employees by investing in wellness programming,” said Peter Andruszkiewicz, president and CEO of BCBSRI. “Employers play a critical role in efforts to improve the health of Rhode Islanders and lower healthcare costs. Worksite wellness programs help us attain these goals while also boosting employee performance and creating stronger organizations. We applaud this year’s Worksite Health Award recipients. Each organization is a testament to wellness that works.”

“The business community plays a critical role in improving the health of Rhode Islanders, and we applaud Arpin Group for making the commitment to invest in the wellness of their team,” said Laurie White, president of the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce. “Arpin Group and the other businesses recognized through the Worksite Health Awards set a positive example for the larger business community, and we encourage other companies to follow their lead.”
