2011 Midwest Relocation Conference Breaks Attendance Record

April 19, 2011

The two-day “super regional” conference, co-chaired by Bridget Ritchie, Director of Business Development for Arpin Group, who is also on the Board of Directors of the Corporate Relocation Council of Chicago, rotates annually between the regional ERC groups in Chicago, St. Louis and Milwaukee. The conference, in Chicago this year, benefited from a newly created advisory council, consisting of Ritchie and representatives from each of the three Midwest Relocation Conference host cities working together to become a Worldwide ERC-recognized regional council. The council also implemented a brand-new website featuring a more uniform and streamlined registration process.

Less visible internal changes included the creation of designated bank accounts, contracts and administrative processes. The result of these changes, combined with the hard work of the program committee and educational sessions, was a more “official” conference with high profile speakers and a wider national appeal. These improvements are credited for boosting attendance to a record 220, attracting dozens more sponsors than previous years and drawing professionals from all over the United States, not just the region.

“Next year’s Midwest Relocation Conference organizers will enjoy the ‘turn key’ plan and template we’ve created,” said Bridget Ritchie.

The conference, designed to provide a forum for education, professional development and networking, attracted professionals from all areas of the relocation industry including corporate relocation, supply chain management, movers, mortgage and real estate service providers and many others.

The “Executive View of Global Mobility” opening panel session, featuring Peggy Smith, CEO of Worldwide ERC as the moderator, presented fresh strategic viewpoints from four of the leading global relocation management company senior executives regarding the impact of the recession on building a future for the industry. Other sessions focused on both the international and domestic aspects of corporate relocation.

The next Midwest Relocation Conference will be held in St. Louis in April 2012.
